Where to stay
Zamalek or central Cairo
Useful for restaurants and city sightseeing. Look at your exact street, pickup access and recent noise reviews; a central address does not guarantee a quiet room.
Giza
A practical choice if the pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum are the main purpose of the stay. Check transport to evening meals and the airport before booking.
Getting around
The metro is useful for parts of Cairo, while Giza visits usually need road transport. Arrange a reputable driver or ride service and allow generous traffic buffers. Agree on inclusions and total cost before an excursion.
A flexible itinerary
Use these three days as a starting point. Add arrival, departure or excursion days to fit your stay.
A proper Giza day
Start early at the pyramid plateau. Take water, sun protection and time for a break. Choose a museum visit only if you can give it a useful block of time; splitting Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum across two days can be more enjoyable.
Old streets and Islamic heritage
Choose a route around Al-Muizz and nearby historic streets, with a guide if architectural context matters to you. Keep the Citadel as a separate part of the day with transport planned. Pause for lunch rather than turning the whole day into a drive.
Museums and Coptic Cairo
Choose the collection you most want to see and pair it with a manageable Old Cairo visit. Leave a fourth day for anything you rushed or missed. A Nile-side evening is a good ending without adding another long excursion.
Food and local stops
Koshari, ful and taameya are useful local introductions. Choose busy places, and ask about ingredients if you have dietary restrictions rather than relying on a dish's name.
Before you book
Ticket prices can differ by nationality and attraction area. Budget for the exact admissions you want, and avoid paying unofficial intermediaries for access or shortcuts.
