Where to stay
On the islands
Useful for an early or late walk without a commute. Check stairs and the route from your arrival stop with luggage.
Near a useful transport stop
A practical way to reduce luggage carrying. Confirm which service reaches the stop rather than judging by straight-line distance.
Getting around
Walk for many local journeys and use the vaporetto for longer connections. Bridges and steps make large bags awkward, so allow more time than a map suggests.
A flexible itinerary
Use these three days as a starting point. Add arrival, departure or excursion days to fit your stay.
The main monuments
Anchor the day with one booked interior visit in St Mark’s area. Take a lunch break away from the tightest crowds and finish with a quieter canal walk.
Dorsoduro or Cannaregio
Choose one district for a gallery, local streets and a long meal. Keep the afternoon open instead of doubling back through the busiest centre.
An optional island day
If you have another day, select an island outing and check the service timetable. Leave enough margin to return and collect your luggage without rushing.
Food and local stops
Look for a clear menu before sitting down. A cicchetti stop can be part of a neighbourhood walk, but compare portions and charges rather than assuming every small plate is inexpensive.
Before you book
Check current visitor-entry rules through the city’s official information. Accommodation, transport and any entry requirement are separate parts of the plan.
