Where to stay
Downtown or Business Bay
Useful for a skyline-led visit. Check the actual walk to the metro; a nearby station on the map may still mean a hot, exposed journey.
Deira, Bur Dubai or the Marina
The older districts suit Creek visits; the Marina suits coastal evenings. Compare your daily travel time as well as the headline room price.
Getting around
The metro's Red and Green lines connect many key areas; a nol card is useful for public transport. The tram serves the Marina area. Use taxis for gaps in the network, and allow extra time for road journeys.
A flexible itinerary
Use these three days as a starting point. Add arrival, departure or excursion days to fit your stay.
The Creek first
Explore the older waterfront, souks and heritage streets, with a long lunch break. Keep the evening nearby instead of crossing the whole city for dinner. A boat trip is a pleasant addition if its boarding point fits your route.
A Downtown day
Book your chosen observation visit, then leave time for the surrounding district. Choose one more indoor attraction if it interests you. Do not buy every available package simply because the buildings are close together.
Coast, then an optional outing
Spend a day around the Marina or your preferred beach area. Add a separate afternoon for a desert excursion if you have the time and budget. For a short stay, dropping one distant outing usually improves the trip.
Food and local stops
Look beyond hotel restaurants for South Asian, Iranian and regional cooking. Older neighbourhoods offer a very different dining experience from high-rise venues.
Before you book
Check local taxes and fees in hotel quotes. Desert-tour prices should be compared on transport, activities and meal inclusions, not on the word 'safari' alone.
