Where to stay
A medina riad
Good for atmosphere and walking access. Confirm the luggage drop-off point and a clear route to the entrance; cars may not reach the door.
Guéliz or a larger hotel outside the medina
Useful for easier road access and different facilities. Check the cost and convenience of returning from an evening in the old city.
Getting around
Walk manageable medina routes, saving your accommodation offline. Arrange reputable transfers for longer journeys and agree taxi fares before departure. A guide can help with context and navigation, but clarify the route and any shopping stops.
A flexible itinerary
Use these three days as a starting point. Add arrival, departure or excursion days to fit your stay.
Find your bearings
Begin with a short medina walk and a leisurely lunch, then visit Jemaa el-Fna later when the atmosphere changes. Keep the first day deliberately simple. If you use a guide, ask for history and architecture rather than a string of retail visits.
Gardens and a change of pace
Use a booked garden visit as the day's anchor, then explore the newer city or return for a calm afternoon at your accommodation. Do not add a long excursion just because the garden visit is short; rest is part of a good stay.
History and the souks
Choose a palace or historic interior, then revisit the market streets with a clearer idea of what interests you. If buying craftwork, compare materials and prices. Add a separate day for mountains or a desert-area outing rather than pretending the travel takes no time.
Food and local stops
Try a tagine, local breads and mint tea. Ask what is included in a set meal and confirm the price before ordering in busy visitor areas.
Before you book
Have small change for purchases and services. Agree prices and photo arrangements in advance, and use your riad's advice for a dependable transfer.
